Happy New Year!! The TDIPT Mercantile is open for business!!

Well, here we are 2012! I can certainly say that 2011 was a pretty rough year for me however, I am looking forward ONLY with renewed optimism and happiness.
Seems, it's the only way to fly :)

We can't beat ourselves up for the past and we most certainly can't control what others do, we can only control our reaction to the situations that challenge us.
So, bring it on in 2012!!!

With the new year I have a new little circus train! I had made a larger piece earlier in the year and my pal Terri Brush said "Oooooh you should make a multiple car train" I agreed and started shortly thereafter however, this little fella just got FINISHED! I know, I am a procrastinator :) But, hey there is another New Years resolution to add to the LONG list I have going! Ha!!

A TDIPT Christmas Swap~Thank you Karen!

So, in our wonderful art group we have gift exchanges from time to time! This time it was a surprise swap, so we did not know which member had our name. It is always so much fun waiting for your package to arrive to see who had your name! This year for our Christmas swap, Karen of Brady Bears had my name...

As you may know, she makes the most divine mohair creations... This Sweet Snowfella was made just for me :) I am a lucky girl!!! Oh and all of my other fab goodies!!! Thank you so much Karen!!!

I have some of the most gracious and generous artistic friends... A special little birdie sent me a wonderful Halloween package, it was completely a surprise and just so so thoughtful. (She knows who she is) Some very kind and lovely people have entered my life on my artistic journey, most of whom I haven't even met (yet) wink ;)

So, what I am trying to say is, I may not get to speak with them or even get back to them via email as quickly as I would like to but, they sure mean the world to me and I think of them often... XOXO~Thank you for making me feel loved and appreciated, always... Me

Somerset Studios Gallery~Winter 2012 issue is OUT!!!

Well, Santa came early this year for me! I have always longed to have my creations beautifully photographed and featured in one of the Stampington publications and my day has come!!! Those of you that know me well, know that I secretly buy all of the Stampington mags because I truly love the smell of them...Is that odd to anyone else, I really really love the smell of new books and mags! Hahahahaha... really, I know it is weird but, I can't help myself! This is why I will NEVER own a Kindle or Nook etc etc etc... Can't fan through a Kindle and sniff that "new book smell" :)

I wrote an article for the Winter 2012 issue of Somerset Studios Gallery. Gallery is a magazine full of awesome techniques from many of my favorite artisans. If the great photos were not enough, heck it was a paying gig! WHO KNEW? Ha! I would have been happy to just been mentioned.

If you pop by a bookstore or art supply store, and apparently Costco (See below, that is Diana with the article at Costco) What a nut!! I love it! The editing was a little different then I recall the last proof being but, heck, I can't complain they did such a wonderful shots of my "girls"

Well, let's see, whats new????? ... This week.......... I am off to Art Camp with Terri Brush, Julie Haymaker Thompson and Christina Lovisa. What fun we will have, I have been feverishly setting up the marketplace for the workshops. All supplies are included but, just in case any of the lovely ladies would like to add some Vintage trim and shinys to their projects!

Here is a little pic of the pretty little packages I have been working on!

Some body stop me! I mean really, I had a week to set up shop! Our usual merchant and sweetheart of a gal is Antie Joy and she will be in California at a show... Joy, you will be missed my dearest!!! I will surely miss your addictive laugh at 6am :)

What's Happening?? AND I wish time would SLOWWWW down and it just goes faster!!!

I always heard "older" people say... "As you get older, time speeds up". I always thought uh, yeah sure... BUT, I am here to tell you, IT'S TRUE!!!!!!

I look at the calendar at the beginning of the month and before I know it, it is the next month and sadly it only feels like it has been a week. I feel like I don't see or speak with my family and friends nearly as much as I want to, used to or should.

So, I don't think I know the answer why, or even how to slow it down but, if any of you have any helpful tips, please let me know :) Really, I mean it... Really... really....

*Ps..I use the term older very lightly** those of you that know me well, know that I am still 29 :) for a few years now...

All joking aside, to my lovely friends and incredible family... I miss you and I am still trying to make time slow down.

To Dwell in Primitive Thymes has been featured in the Fall issue of "Prim's" magazine. I do love the Stampington publications, they are wonderful and shiny and mmmmm, smell terrific! (Yes, I love the smell of books and magazines) Don't judge me... :)

My Soldered Softie~Mohair owl shares a page with my TDIPT sister Patty of Dogpatch!

Way cool, If I must say and I must because, no one else will do it for me :)

I was a little bit sad... well, maybe a lot because they did not turn on the lights on his little wire tree... I even sent the batteries. and wiring him with tiny clear lights and hiding the battery pack was the HARDEST part of creating this fella.... **sigh**

Oh well, I did manage to capture a little pic of him from my phone before I sent him to the mag... I know it isn't great but, you get the idea...

Uh...I flipped it and now it is backwards...Geeeezzzz, what a goofball!!!

Anyhow, he has soldered glass eyes that I made from antique sheet music, sewn into his head, and his wings are wired for posing. He is made out of a winter white mohair. His little talons are soldered wire that I had sculpted and he is mounted on an old stair spindle.

He is my own pattern and design and I don't suspect you will see him elsewhere :) I wanted to mix fibers with solder and glass, so stay tuned... I am sure I will strike again!!!

Seriously!!! My last post was in May?? Unbelievable! Where does the time go? I mean I say it all the time, but I actually really mean it!! I can't BELIEVE almost two months have gone by!!!

Okay, well then...down to business..What's new??? Hmmmmmm.....

I DO have a new mixed media cut canvas piece on TDIPT this month! I think the girls thought I had been abducted by aliens (as most of you probably do) but, NO...HERE I AM!!! Ha!

I just returned from hanging out with my pal Terri Brush last week and I am on my way up to Washington again this week for some more "play time" Art Camp is just around the corner and we will be in beautiful Sun River, I can't wait and am lucky to be one of her assistants (camp helpers) for Summer Art Camp!

Many of you know that I learned to solder in one of Terri's workshops and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to take her classes and learn this new art.

After Sunriver is Fall Art Camp and Julie Haymaker Thompson will be there, teaching as well as Terri..

Julie is a joy to be around and look at this adorable project for fall!!!

I think everyone should be able to take a workshop with these lovely artists!! Won't you join me??? :) Stay tuned, more exciting news to come!! ***Maybe even some some alternatives for those of you that CAN"T make it to Art camp and workshops!!! WOOOHOOOO....That is all I am going to say about that!!!!

New Soldered Dolls and Paper Posie Pendants

It is that time again!!! Where does the time go, sometimes I just feel like the days fly by and I have accomplished nothing. I need to learn to slow down and appreciate the little things, especially since the older I get the faster time flies!!

I do have some new offerings on TDIPT today. I made tiny paper shadow boxes and sweet paper flowers to create these pendants. I love the way they turned out, I hope you will enjoy them as well.

Here is the back, I used vintage sheet music and a bit of aging to give them a look of yesteryear.

I finally finished my latest "Pumped up Paper Doll" I really wanted to make her little beveled glass doors open on hinges, however she just was not structurally sound. She sure is now!

I have quite a few more in the works, slow but sure, that is my motto!

"In her house" is available on TDIPT

I realize I never posted "Empty Nest" another of my soldered dollys. I used a transfer medium with a reversed black and white image. I then hand colored her face with watercolor pencils. Her little nest has tiny pearls, I sculpted that and soldered it as well prior to soldering her all together. She sits on a tiny crackled candlestick base.

In celebration of my new endeavor, I am having a sweet little giveaway! I will be giving away one of my Vintage Easter soldered assemblages. These were the samples for my first class at Collage and I will be parting with one of them. Not sure which one yet... but, one of them :)

Mounted German Scrap, with embellishments, the little Easter Feather tree was handmade by me and I love the vintage sheet music on the glass. Little pearls float loosly in the bottom. The top is removable for ease in cleaning and dusting.

This was handmade by me, with lots of love and little details.

Introducing my latest crazy idea...Glass and Glitz Pumped up paperdolls

Well, most of these are still in the works... Some of them will be for a classes I will be teaching at Collage on Alberta. "Love Letters" will be available tomorrow on Prim Nest~I have been plotting and scheming them up for months and a few are coming to life, I do think they are very unique and fun and have yet to see anything quite like them. I hope you will agree. I really wanted to incorporate my love of doll making into my soldering, and have some other crazy ideas with fabric as well...

Stay tuned, little Miss Alice the topiary is giving me fits so, she did not get her picture taken!!! Much much more to come....

As most of you know the divine and talented Terri Brush taught me how to solder, for that I will forever be indebted to her. I was excited at the opportunity to teach advanced soldering at a wonderful local store, so I ran it by my dearest Terri and of course she said "Go for it girly"!!! That's why I love her.. :) Maybe someday I will be blessed to teach with my teacher, ahhhhh, wouldn't that be wonderful??

So, I have been purchasing wonderful new and vintage bottles, just the other day I was able to play with my girlyfriend and very talented artist, Christy Meyers of "CC's Whimsies" and we wandered around an antique store, and found a lovely little bottle! Thank you doll for a wonderful day, hopefully next time we will be in "work" mode... It was totally my fault, not Christy's!! Hahahaha!! And whenever I think of "Pumped up Paperdolls" it is all Christy, she said to me one day, regarding colors, I call them pumped up pastels...So, thank you my friend... XOXO

Welcome Welcome little Eden!!!

My sister and her husband delivered beautiful little Eden Rae Stevens at 10:30am yesterday!! She is a big deal, the only Grandchild for my parents and of course, my only niece!!!

So my New Year's resolution was to be much much better about staying in touch with my online pals.. I have missed you all and I am really going to focus on it!!!

First things first, I FINALLY finished my launch piece for the mercantile...Only a few hours too late... Sorry Patty, awwwww she is the best. I swear, I thought I had about 5 hours more to go and well, 12 hours later, it was completed! Ha!!! Oh well, good thing I love doing what I do.

This is my Valentine's piece this year. I was hoping to get another done but, I am not sure that will happen. Well, I am lucky enough to have won one of Michelle's lovely pieces of art on Ebay a few years ago and I cherish it!!! You know, when I moved and parted with so many of my possessions, I realized that it is just "stuff" and I can always get more "stuff". Funny thing is, it makes you realize what actually means something to you, I mean really means something to you.

I kept all of my lovely things from my artist friends, I am so lucky to own such lovely pieces from Back Porch Pickins, Goldiloo Woodworks, The Blackberry Briar, Carol Roll, Fiddlestix Studios, CC's Whimsies, Blur Baby, and 2 Stitchin', forgive me, if I have missed anything!!! . Really, those things and family heirlooms are what mean the most...

A Very Merry Christmas~A few last minute goodies!!!

Thank you for popping by, I know this time of year can be crazy for everyone! Usually is for me, always so much on my plate, which is my own doing. :) No one's fault but mine. :)

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update, I did put a few hand crafted journals and ornaments on the TDIPT~To Dwell in Primitive Thymes Mercantile.

One of each is available and I am certain if ordered by Monday, December 20th, I can ship them Priority Mail and they will arrive by Christmas.

Each of the ornaments were completely hand embellished and crafted by me and they come with a little tea dyed stamped muslin bag.

Well it is TDIPT swap time again and woooweeeee, I got some goodies!!! The lovely Miss Kitty aka Joyce sure spoiled me... There is nothing finer that a TDIPT swap... really and truly.. Thank you so much Joyce.

My picture of her beautiful snow angel, really does not do it ANY justice!! It is so lovely, and the quilted wings and antique bobbin base are just the "cat's meow" heheheheh

When I opened the box, well, I just had to save my sweet snow angel right away but, look at how adorable it was all wrapped up!! She used a vintage sewing pattern to line the box and the tissue that all of my sweet goodies were wrapped in were the pattern pieces, very, very clever!!!

Look at all of my goodies, there is a beautiful cottage candle lantern with a drop crystal, antique skeleton keys a wonderful unique pinecone ornie and little mushroom bird in a nest, all glittered up pretty, a crystal ornament, vintage wood and paper santa ornaments oh yes, AND CHOCOLATE!!!

Thank you so much again Joyce... I so appreciate your gifts...

German Angel scrap soldered house

Well, I have been a busy busy bee.... I have actually completed 4 pieces for TDIPT this month.. I hope you will take a look, just for fun, because after all that is what it is all about!

Many of you know that I learned to solder from the lovely and talented Terri Brush, I just spoke with Miss Terri this morning and she has some awesome workshops open at her studio in Chehalis WA. Oooohwieee, looks like fun! Check it out!!!

Anyhow, I used different techniques I have learned from Terri, and I am forever grateful to her for introducing me to this wonderful medium.

Soooo, I promised more pics from camp...what a loser!!! Hahahaha, I have been working so much that I just have not had the time to do anything! (86 hours in 8 days) and that is my "normal job" not the fun stuff!! :)

I will post them, as soon as I load them, however I do have a bit of new stuff, so, I shall share... :)

AhA~American Holiday Artists Studios are open for business. The 25th snuck up on me (AS USUAL) however, I did get some soldered Christmas ornaments done, they have the sweetest papers and images. I have hand glittered them in the lightest shimmery glitter and each has coordinating swarovski crystals. It is terrible to photograph beveled glass, and the detail is so hard to capture.

From the base, I have soldered jump rings and attached either vintage chandelier crystals or a little key. The ribbons can be changed out to whatever your heart desires. The soldering has decorative edging..one of my own special little touches, I have not seen it done often but, I just think it ads a nice finish.

Wow, what a week it has been, I went to Art camp in Lincoln City last week, it was just wonderful. Spent a couple of days with the lovely, Terri Brush, Christy Meyers and Tiffany!!! (Photos on Terri's blog) We made some fun goodies and had lots of laughs!! Then on Tuesday, Art and Soul... I took a class from Julie Haymaker Thompson, she is just a delightful, mellow and talented teacher. I loved how my little "Walking Rusty" figure turned out!!

I will post pics of all of my art projects from Art Camp and Art and Soul, soon!! I promise!

I finally finished my dear friends birthday present... (yes, her birthday was in August...ahem, no comment) However, I sure hope they were worth the wait. I took her Bulldog Bernard (Bernie) and her Puggle Guiness (Guin) and altered an old cabinet card that I had purchased. I sure love the way it turned out. 7 pieces of beveled glass, some solder, papers and tiny clay bones I made, and "Viola"

... Thinking about taking special orders, I love playing dog and cat paper dolls!!! Then again, it would have to be what struck my fancy, you all know how it is having someone tell you exactly what they want...stifles your creativitiy! Ha Ha!! So, the numbers that were picked in my little noggin were number 9 and 19. No particular reason, they just popped into my head. I did not count the comments or even pay attention to who left number 9 and 19 until today, I have been so busy moving and trying to get organized. However, I counted and recounted (yep, tired today) AND it is Pea and Carol Roll (aka Jinxie)

NO, it was most certainly not fixed, although it could seem that way as they are both in TDIPT, however, I am very happy that they happen to be number 9 and 19. Jinxie, you were number 9 the first number, so you receive the sweet Piggy in the hat cards and Pea, you will receive the crowned birdy cards.

Okay!!! I am all over the place these days, first of all I MUST quit taking classes, because after taking a soldering class from the lovely and talented Terri Brush....well, you know....

This is my vintage style "Boo Box"

Somebody stop me!!! ;) I guess it is the Gemini side of me, I just get bored oh so easily and think, I wanna try that, and I wanna do that!!!

I do have some more Mohair babies in the works and some "Wired" Paper dolls which I am in love with and will share soon...

Sweet Little Teeny Mohair Bears~Up for adoption on TDIPT this evening

Well, it has been a few years since I have made a teddy bear. I have been stocking up on some wonderful mohair so, expect some fun little furry friends here and there. I love the simplicity and classic appeal of a mohair bear so, and these two are so very darling and quite small.

Bernard sits at 2.5" tall and stands at 3" he is fully cotter pin jointed and poseable. I used my most favorite Bamboo fiberfill so they are "green" little teddys too! It has the feel of old cotton batting.

They each have a decorative vintage block that I have revamped and tiny hats that are removable.

Bernard is named for a dear friends bulldog, cause he is just a big old teddy bear.

"Pee Wee" the panda is named after my sister, tomorrow is her birthday and my dad's nickname for her when we were growing up was "pee wee" He sits at a tiny 1 and 3/4" tall and is string jointed, I did not have a cotterpin joint set small enough for this little fella!

Bernard and Pee Wee will be available later this evening on the "To Dwell in Primitive Thymes" Mercantile.

Hello there, geez....sure had been awhile since I posted! Well, not much new here, signed up for a wonderful class by Terri Brush, it is my sister's Birthday on May 15th and I am going to take her and we are going to spend the day in Terri's lovely studio learning how to make little soldered glass boxes, looks like it should be SOOOO much fun! I really want to do her beach retreat in the Fall but, wow with the taxes we had to pay this year, I just dont know.... Toooooo sad.... I am still hoping I can make it work, maybe win the lottery!! hahahahahaha

If you are anywhere near Chehalis Washington, you really need to take one of Terri's classes. She includes all your supplies and a yummy lunch as well!!!! Really, do it for yourself!!!!

I am just addicted to classes, the delightful Julie Haymaker Thompson is going to be at Art and Soul in Portland this year!!! (Another reason to win the lottery) I would love to take ALL of her classes as well!!! LOL..Do they have rehab for such things??

My day with Julie Haymaker Thompson!!!

Oh my, it was a BLAST!!!! I have to tell you, if you can ever take a class from Julie, DO IT!!! First of all she is divine and inspiring and caring and fun!!!!! I had so much fun and it was held at Terri Brush's beautiful home in Washington. Terri has some awesome classes she offers as well, I can not wait to go back and take a class from her but, this time she hosted Julie in her home workshop space.

I finally finished... Guess who the only girl was NOT to get her piece done?!?!?

Terri's home is absolutely breathtaking! She hosted a delicious lunch, snacks, wine and dessert. The price was included in the class fee and all materials were also included. Trust me, this is the way to do it! I snapped a few photos of her lovely pieces and her collection from other folk artists.

Julie has a way of making you just "relax" "slow down" chill, it is folk art after all!!! I will not forget this day for a long time, we met new friends and learned new techniques!! There is not a class she offers that I do not want to take!

I am tooooo excited, tomorrow morning bright and early my sweet friend Mindi and I will be heading up to Washington to take Julie Haymaker Thompson's workshop "Enchanted"

I have been looking forward to this for MONTHS!!!!! I hope we will remember to get some pictures! I will post them, looks like such fun and I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Julie has some workshops that look so incredible and I hope I can find her close again so I can take more!! As a matter of fact.....
I want to take them all! Ha!!!

I cannot believe it is the 15th AGAIN!!! I intended on getting more than one piece done for the Merc this month but, to no avail.... Story of my life... hehehehehehe

I have this papier mache' bunny that I made from an lovely large chocolate mold (thanks Jenny) :-) and I painted him and glittered him...gave him some millinery flowers and berries and framed him up on some awesome layers of fiber papers... ooooh, they are divine!

Anywho...if you get a chance, stop by the Merc and peek at all of the offerings and don't forget it is our Birthday! So, if you purchase off the mercantile this month you will be entered in the drawing and there are some lovely artisan offerings for the giveaway!!!

It is hard to believe that this much time has passed since our doors opened and we made our debut onto the internet.

To help to show our appreciation to our wonderful customers and our loyal followers, we've celebrated each of our birthdays w/ a giveaway, as we will this year.

Some of our artists have created something special to be given away for this special occasion, and we will begin the festivities on the evening of Sunday February 28th at 10 PM ET, which is when the artists from the 1st of the month will have new offerings available on the Merc for your consideration.

We will draw names on March 21st.

The TDIPT Mercantile updates tonight!!!~Hearts for Haiti

Well, I sure wanted to get this little chalkware guy done for the Hearts for Haiti donations... but, to no avail!! Just not enough time in the day!!! I have finished some beautiful Painted and Papered boxes with a little heart tag however, and all of the proceeds will go to Haiti relief. They will be available this evening on the "To Dwell in Primitive Thymes" Mercantile.

I also finished one of my "Chalklets" he is "Little Black Rabbit" and I LOVE this mold...oh, I do!! I have to stop buying them but, they are so darn wonderful!!! Anywho, I sure hope you enjoy him!! New "Chalklet" Be my Valentine chalkware doves~available now

I just love the way that these two turned out. I used a beautiful antique chocolate mold from my girl Jenny. I cast from my molds for her but, she sent me some of hers to play with and I am having fun fun fun!!! These two are poured from plaster and hand sanded.

Anywho, these little doves are named for one of my best pals Mothers...Luz, which means light and that she is... These are Luz's Palomas or Luz's Doves.

I sure hope you enjoy them, they will be available on my blog for a few days and after that, moving to Ebay. Please contact me if you have any questions. They are 8" long at the base and stand about 6" high. Hand painted and embellished with tiny paper hats with vintage style garland and pearl headed pins, they sit on some beautiful irridenscent fiber nests. They have velvet neck trim and the female dove has tiny pearls, from his neck hangs a tiny key and from hers a heart shaped lock. The hand lettered "Be my Valentine" sign is removable.
They will come signed and dated by me from my smoke free, pet friendly home.

While I have not been creating anything lately per se.... I have been casting chalkware pieces for a lovely gal in New Jersey. I met Jenny though Ebay, as I was selling some of my antique chocolate molds and she bought one or two (LOL) See, she is equally as bad as me when it comes to collecting molds.

One of wonderful things about our friendship is that she IS the reason I can keep my MOSTEST favorite molds, she asked that I cast her pieces from my molds that she purchases from me and paints. She sells in local stores in her town and has yet to delve into the online world of selling yet... However, I am sure if you really really wanted one you could contact me and I could get you in touch with her.

I love her classic style as she uses oils.... Aren't they lovelies???

Hahahaha... Well, here is one of the pieces that I poured from one of my antique chocolate molds. I just love this mold, it is about 11" tall and so detailed.

I painted this for a dear friends parents, and "borrowed" it back to take a photo. Darn it, my camera never captures detail the way I would hope, but you get the idea...:-)
I just wanted you all to know that I have not been completely ignoring my creative side...

So, my friends, I have been slowly but surely getting back into my arts. I have missed you all so much and with the new year, comes new goals for me!!!

Thank you for all of your kind emails and well wishes. Christmas snuck up on me this year, but I was able to finish a few Chalkware pieces from some beautiful antique chocolate molds that I have. I will try and get some decent pics of them to post!!!

Yes Yes my dears, I know I have been MIA for some time!!! Please forgive me, sometimes life just gets in the way!! I have not been creating just yet but, I think that my muse may be back very soon.

I have listed a few items on Ebay, I need to get rid of some of my stash!! There are some lovely vintage buttons and a big old 5lb bag of creams,whites and pearl buttons. I have always loved Frozen Charlottes and am selling my small but impeccable little collection of these antique dolls.

I have also listed some of my copies of Somerset Studios and Art doll Quarterly. So, if you are in need of any of these things pop on over to Ebay!!!

On Etsy, I have all of my Epatterns on special for November and they are only $4.95!! A few of my books that I REALLY do not need, I mean, I would LOVE to learn rug hooking but, one only has so much time in a day, month or year! LOL!! I have also listed a Jolly trio of snowmen and some lovely handmade Papier mache' bird boxes.

Okay!!!! Sooooo, I get home from working overtime today... Yep, I have been in a bit of a rut creatively. Can't seem to sit still and create, at all!!! My birthday was a few weeks ago, we will say I am 20 something (even if it's a lie) I feel 20 something! So, that is that!!!
I have a few lovely, close online friends, sometimes I see little "special" things that remind me of them, you know how it goes.. "Oh, so and so would LOVE that" and so on... It is just ME!!!

Yes, I have sent my dearie Tonya a few odds and ends, no big deal... A little something special as a surprise or to brighten her day. AND, she has done the same for me.

Now you have a little background, WELL!!! Someone surely out did herself! As is her way, if you do not own anything by this talented artist, well you are missing out! She does things with cloth and paper that are out of this world! Heck, anything she tries she does with her own personal flair and it is always outstanding! Really, I doubt there is anything that she CAN'T do!

My darling and demented sister and I will be taking this fabulous paper cutting class Wednesday night and I am so excited!!!! She took me to a fabulous store down on Woodstock called "Collage" well, I went a little crazy time in there and then I saw this adorable paper cutting sitting in a frame and thought...."WHAT?"

I then noticed the class brochure and signed up right away. Hey, 30.00 and all supplies are included, it's only 2 hours out of my life and is something I have wanted to explore for sometime...add that to the many other things I would like to explore... LOL

Some we can talk about here, some we can't! wink....wink......

On the mercantile this month we are doing a theme, "Made in America" and I really, really hate themes!!! Ahahahaha!!! So, after much grunting and groaning I heard this lovely vintage Santa chocolate mold calling my name. He said hey, girly.... "pick me" "pick me"!!!

Sooooo, I did and made him an Americana Santa...He is pretty handsome, if I do say so myself.He has so much detail and shading and I have no idea what my problem is but, I just can't seem to capture it with my camera!!! That's it, NEW CAMERA! LOL

I also have one more Italian "Bird Epherma" paper journal and some painted and papered papier mache' boxes with rusty tin lids, I do love them and they would look so cool stacked in a corner or just about anywhere you could use a little flair.

I know, I know... I have curbed my obsession for long enough to get a teeny bit of work done...wink, wink..... tee hee tee hee.....

I just love this!!! A Diaper Cake!!!

Okay, I stopped obsessing over my sweet honey man, Robert Pattinson long enough to finish this sweet Diaper Cake...

No thanks to my friend Pammy of Goldiloo Woodworks. She has some "eyecandy" posted on her blog especially for me!!! (love the sidebar pic) Hahahaha... She knows my weaknesses and if you haven't seen her "Twilight" signs, well they are fabulous so, go peek around her site!!! I know what you are thinking and NO! I do not have one of them!!!! :-)

Anywho, back to what I SHOULD be doing!!! HA !!! I am hosting a baby shower for one of the deputies at the jail, and my dear friend Stacy. I looked into diaper cakes and loved what I saw but, they ranged from 80.00 to 100.00. I thought, hmmmmmmm...... I bet I could make one of those.

So, off to You Tube I went and watched the instructions, I had to go back to the store last night and get WHITE diapers, I purchased some at Babies R US and they had little green stars on them and after rolling 60 diapers I decided I was WAY to anal to let those slide!!! Needless to say Stacy is also getting 60 diapers all rubberbanded! LOL!!! I finished it off with white tulle, green paper shreds and ribbons.... The great thing is if she runs out of diapers she can easily take her cake apart, as I did not use any glue.

I love the papers I used for the base and the little sign, they are from the "Laundry Line" and they are too fabulous. My buddy Tonya of Back Porch Pickin's sister has a scrapbook store and runs specials every Wednesday!!! Love it!!!

Oh, and these are also adorable for house warming gifts, you can use wash cloths and hand towels or you can use little baby wash cloths instead of diapers.

I recruited my sister, Dawn of D'S Chic Boutique to make some fabric covered journals as take away gifts and a prize or two!! She makes great handbags!!!

Oh, okay... back to "you know who" hahahaha

Yes, I do, I do.... I have put off the inevitable... and now I am doing my taxes...what a sad state of affairs... None the less, I will be back and having fun after April 15th!!!!

Well, my friends, I thought I would do a giveaway on my blog!!! I am giving away "Old Blue eyes" he is one of my original "Chalklets"

Here is his bio: Meet "Old Blue Eyes" he is a dapper chicky, cast from one of my old chocolate molds from Belgium. He stands about 5" tall and has a curly little top knot and top hat.. He has a paper sign that reads "Old Blue Eyes" handwritten by me. His sign is finished with a pink pearl headed pin and he has vintage pink velvet trim around his hat and collar. Pink, Yellow and blue millinery flowers and sugared stamen. Antiqued and sealed with a light mica dusting. He will come signed and dated by me from my smoke free, pet friendly home.

Well, I decided since I am not going to go on vacation this year, to give myself a little mini vacation. Really close to home. Art and Soul Retreat is held at the Embassy Suites hotel September 30th to October 5th.

I am so excited, I get to meet Sylvia Anderson, we have been in a few groups together and so looking forward to taking her Curio Spoon Pendant class on Wednesday evening.

Thursday I will be taking Judy Wise's class "Dolls for Big girls" It is an all day class and just looks so fun!

Friday, a girlfriend and I are taking the mixed media class "The enchanting place" with Katie Kendrick!

AND last by certainly not least, I will be talking a class taught by a local mixed media artist, Lisa Kaus. The class is titled "Gridlocked" and I have been having so much fun collecting little goodies, oh so much to do and NEVER enough time...

Awwwww, I sent my girly friend a gift box of goodies.. Tonya of Back Porch Pickins and she was so happy and has made a bunny with the fabric and some of the vintage trims...She is sure a beauty and I DO LOVE HER!!!

I do love that Michael Miller fabric and it makes the best bunny duds ever!!! I used it back in January of 2008 on a Bunny make do... and I just had to buy more, more, more.... I am so happy you loved it T and that you USED it!!! Hoping that little bunny will hop on over to my house!

Hi ALL!!!! I have changed my name to Wings and Paws Whimsies... Don't know what I am gonna do about my blog. Do not want to have to do a new one and so far, can't seem to figure out how to change my name on blogger and make my blogger address change without starting a WHOLE new blog...Dang it!!

Anywho... Sara of Graphic Pretties has been working hard on my graphics, she has come up with an adorable banner and is currently working on my favorite one, which is the one that is on my blog and pretty much everything else.

I listed some books on Ebay this afternoon.. First we have a wonderful out of print book by Doris Gottilly~ "Doll Making with Papier Mache' and Paper Clay". This book is in fabulous condition and you can't buy it even on Amazon for less than 49.00 used. In new condition it is 130.00. So have at it my friends, it has 20 complete doll projects that are wonderful and I just know I will never use it! Too many ideas and so little time!!!

Next up for grabs we have my MOST FAVORITE old Readers and Spellers!! I had a plan for a base of a doll with these and I can't bear to screw them together and mess them up! they have beautiful graphics and are so wonderful and worn... So many wonderful handmades: A bay leaf garland, old quilt ornies, bunny pantry cake, and the most LOVELY real egg shadowbox, with lovely dried flowers from her garden.

I collect old Beswick Beatrix Potter figures so, she worked in a little Peter Rabbit!!!

I got chocolates and coffees and creamer, candles and darling dragonfly socks...OH so many goodies!! I feel spoiled but, there ain't nothing better than a TDIPT swap!!!!

I started an Ebay auction today at 9.99 for the most wonderful lot of 10 Antique School Books, many dating 1897. These are full of beautiful old ephemera and stories! Well, it has been a horribly busy weekend, we had to go through Grandpa's home. I was not looking forward to this task AT ALL..It feels like a violation but, if we don't do it then who? Anyhow, I wanted to get my little Chicky on Ebay tonight and then Andy and I are gonna watch a movie... lets see...Tonight "The Changeling" looks pretty good!!!

~We will always remember you Grandpa~

For those of you that knew that my Grandfather was battling with lung damage due to asbestos and those of you that don't, we lost him on Thursday morning. You know, this was supposed to be a "easy" surgery, when he came out, all was well, the surgery was a success! My Grandfather was an active, young 78 years old. He walked 2 miles a day and still raced these cars well, into last year! He got an infection after the surgery and so another surgery.... His body just could not take it and believe me, if my Grandpa could not come back and be the self sufficient, active man he always has been, he would have been an unhappy man.

He was a man of not many words, kind of the silent type as many in his era are... But, we loved him just the same and he loved all of us.

I will miss him always and always wish we had more time... Remember, to appreciate your friends and loved ones, every day as they may not be there tomorrow...

Thank you to those of you that were along side of me during my sadness and those of you that were not aware, thank you for stopping by and meeting my Grandpa....
